From sheet metal to finished part : our laser cutting workshop !

Date

Behind every metal part that is cut lies a series of stages: needs analysis, file preparation, material optimisation, cutting and, depending on the project, additional transformation and finishing operations.

Laser cutting is part of a broader expertise in metal processing. In our industrial metalworking workshop located in Vendée, we work with stainless steel, aluminium and steel to manufacture metal parts tailored to the needs of various industrial sectors.

But how exactly does a sheet of metal become a part ready for the next stages of production ? Step inside our workshop.

Before laser cutting :
preparing the part

Manufacturing begins well before laser cutting.

Plans, dimensions, material, thickness and quantities are analysed in advance to anticipate project constraints.

Our design office can also support the design process and prepare the following stages: bending, welding, polishing, passivation…

Prepare and optimise
sheet metal cutting

Once the technical data has been defined, the parts are positioned on the sheet to optimise material use and reduce waste.

This nesting stage helps prepare production efficiently and ensures the repeatability of industrial parts.

Laser cutting : when the file becomes a metal part

It is within our workshop that the project physically takes shape.

AMIAUD has a fibre laser cutting centre capable of processing various types of sheet metal.

The laser beam follows the programmed paths to produce the contours and geometries defined during preparation.

This technology can produce both simple shapes and more complex geometries with a level of precision suited to the requirements of industrial production.

However, machine performance alone is not enough. Knowledge of materials, work preparation and process control all contribute directly to the quality of the final result.

This combination of production resources and industrial expertise allows AMIAUD to integrate industrial cutting into a broader manufacturing process.

Stainless steel, aluminium, steel : each material has its own specific properties

 Not all metal parts have the same requirements.

The choice between stainless steel, aluminium and steel depends on the application, environment and required characteristics: corrosion resistance, lightness or mechanical properties.

AMIAUD selects the most suitable material for each project and can also work with copper and brass.

After cutting, the part’s journey can continue

Leaving the laser cutting centre does not always mark the end of the manufacturing process in our workshop. Depending on the project, the part can then be bent, assembled by mechanical welding, or undergo various finishing and metal surface treatment operations within our workshops.

From cutting to finishing : multiple skills combined

Depending on the project requirements, AMIAUD can combine several areas of expertise within the same industrial environment:
  • Laser cutting;
  • Bending;
  • Mechanical welding;
  • Polishing;
  • Pickling and passivation;
  • Tube bending, drilling, cutting, threading and marking;
  • Quality control;
  • Assembly, packaging, storage and shipping.

This organisation allows metal part manufacturing to be managed as a complete process, with each stage planned according to the expected result.

From one-off parts to series production : tailored manufacturing

AMIAUD adapts to different production requirements, from prototypes to small and medium-sized production runs.

Laser cutting makes it possible to produce metal parts with a wide range of geometries while ensuring consistency and repeatability.
